A Turkish bath or hamam is similar to a Scandinavian sauna but is closer to a Roman bath. It is based on the same principles as the steambath but the focus is on water rather than steam.
From its Scandinavian beginnings it has conquered the whole world. The heat in a sauna can reach temperatures up to 100°C but the low humidity (20-30%) transforms this into a pleasant embrace that relaxes the muscles and stimulates bodily purification.
I went for the first time on 24th August and returned on 29th; I was only in Kalkan for a week. An incredible experience, so relaxing and therapeutic. All staff were absolutely amazing. You feel welcome and at ease from the moment you step through the door. It will be my first stop on my next visit to Kalkan. Cannot recommend it highly enough!Ruth J -
